Card is written in 1899, but not postally used. The writer has listed the ship as the "Vera". I suspect it is actually the "Gera" (1891 - 1908). Unknown (Royal Mail Steam Packet) 1229205 Unknown (Royal Mail Steam Packet) Royal Mail Steam Packet Co (RMSP) An unusual Gents Progressive Whist scoring card produced by the company. The card is 2 pages, folded down the left edge. On the front cover is a lovely illustration of a company ship (in a Norwegian Fjord??), with art by S. Stott and dated 1925. On the inside is the scoring table which would be filled in by the participant. On the reverse is another illustration of a company vessel and an advert for the company services including tours for South America and cruises to Norway, etc. What looks like a date of 1926 printed to the bottom right corner. Very light corner and edge wear except for some rubbing on the left folded spine of the card. Extremely light marking to the front with a couple of tiny foixng spots. Very light marking / ageing to the inside scoring table with a few small foxing spots. Very light marking to the reverse with a couple of light foxing spots. Size when folded is 3.4" x 4.75" (86mm x 120mm). (VG) SOLD!
Unknown (State Line) 1228201 Unknown (State Line) State Line / State Steamship Co. Ltd. An extremely early and scarce advertising art card for the State Line and showing an un-named company vessel. The company was founded in 1872 and was wound up in 1890, the remains of the company being acquired by the Allan Line. The card has an advertisement on the reverse for services from New York to Glasgow, Liverpool or Belfast and was produced by the American agents Austin Baldwin & Co of Chicago / New York. The card may have been trimmed down from a larger card as the edges are slightly uneven, or maybe this is how it was produced. Very light corner wear and very light marking to the front. The surface of the card has light undulations over it's entire surface. To the reverse there is what feels light extremely light residue, so it may have been stuck to something at some point. There is some toning marking over the surface of the card on the reverse and a light ink scribble in the centre of the reverse. Size approx 5.5" x 3.25".(VG-/G+) £18.99

She is berthed alongside the Norddeutscher Lloyd vessel Kaiser Friedrich which was built in 1898, but failed builders trials and was laid up in Hamburg until 1912 when she became the Burdigala for Cie Sud-Atlantique. Card is by Knackstedt & Nather of Hamburg. Postally used in 1906. Very light corner and edge wear and light album corner marks / impressions. Various (Tokyo Port) 1233413 Various (Tokyo Port) Various Three sepia toned photo postcard issued by Tokyo City Port Bureau featuring views of various steamers in the port. The three cards come in the original envelope they were sold in. The ship in the centre left of the second card is (I think) the Iwate Maru of NYK line which served the company from 1939 to 1944. The ship nearest the camera in the third card is the Koju Maru which may be the 1906 built vessel which served a couple of Japanese owners from 1911 to 1915. First Card : Extremely light corner wear. Extremely light marking to the front with some sepia toning and surface silvering of the photo. A couple of foxing spots to the reverse otherwise very light marking / ageing. Vienna 1232402 Vienna Ministry of War Transport A monochrome art postcard featuring the Vienna. She was built in 1929 for the LNER. In 1941 she was taken over by the ministry of War Transport for trooping suties and remained in this service until 1960. I believe this card shows her during that period. Extremely light corner and edge wear. Some very light surface impressions from some writing and a postal cancellation at the top of the postcard, otherwise extremely light marking to the front. Volkerfreundschaft 1235008 Volkerfreundschaft VEB Deutfracht-Seereederei Rostock (DSR-Lines) A colour photo postcard featuring the Volkerfreundschaft. She was built in 1948 as the Swedish American liner Stockholm and operated as the Volkerfreundschaft from 1960 to 1985. I think the card was postally used in 1984 (date a little unclear) in Wolgast. A little corner and edge wear with a little rubbing on the top left corner. Light surface bend near the left edge, centre. Impression from postal cancellation top left and other light surface impressions from the writing to the reverse showing on the front of the card. Otherwise light marking to the front .
